The DCH Health System made a commitment to accommodate all patients in private rooms. This position was adopted in part to meet patient expectations and to maintain patient satisfaction. These factors, combined with Tuscaloosa area growth projections, led the hospital to the conclusion that by the year 2020 DCH will need an additional 300 patient beds.
The West Tower project will provide the first phase of 108 patient beds. The six story, 215,000 square foot, structure will house two floors of diagnostic and treatment programs, three floors with 36 private patient rooms on each floor, and one floor with logistical support.
