The Gateway Opening Reception

The Gateway: Alberta's Innovation and Discovery Center, designed by Ward Scott Architecture, is a progressive digital library and information resource for city residents of Tuscaloosa. An invitation-only event was held Monday to debut the the $3.275 million facility, which recently completed construction off University Boulevard. The center will open to the public on June 29.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walter Maddox on Monday said the digital library is part of east Tuscaloosa's transformation after the April 27, 2011, tornado. Ward Scott Architecture is honored to be apart of this wonderful opportunity of growth for the Alberta area. The center features more than $2.2 million in technology, including large computer screens, interactive tables and kiosks that patrons of the center can use to access a trove of information. In addition to the technological offerings, The Gateway also has a coffee shop ran by Heritage House Coffee & Tea and a child activity center with an interactive wall and table.
